Hugs

I found my self a new pleasure, and it goes a little bit like this:
Take at least one other person besides yourself, open your arms wide, hold that person close to you and squeeze him/her tightly, while you keep your eyes closed and enjoy the moment.
The more hugs you spread the fuller you become.
The other day a receive one very special hug. I happened to run into a good friend, and as he was turning to leave I felt the drive to hug him, but it didn’t come true. So he got into his car, and I went inside only to see his jacket. Instantly I run out to stop him and return it to him. Upon seeing this, he was very happy and he gave me a really nice hug, while I was saying “You did this on purpose!”
So there are plenty of hugs out there waiting for us, and I can’t wait for the next one.

Another day is passing by, we’ve packed everything and we’re waiting to return home. While I’m laying in bed I read “Nanga Parbat” on pretty green eyes’ backpack. She goes to say it’s her favorite summit and she dreams to climb it one day. Nanga Parbat…nanga sounds interesting…
Nanga Parbat, or Killer Mountain as it was once known, literally meaning Naked Mountain, is the ninth highest mountain on Earth, rising a staggering 8,126m. Quite the trophy if you can manage the climb and not to forget the decent.
But what drives people to take on such massive feats?
Lately I’ve stumbled across two pieces of interesting information.
One goes to say that elevated forms of energy and spirits dwell in the mountains. These spirits protect and reward those worthy few that climb their peaks. Many mountaineers say that you need to respect the mountain and to be humble in your endeavor, never underestimating the forces of nature, and only in this way you will be able to conquer its peaks.
The second source is Emoto Masaru’s water experiments. The Japanese scientist showed pictures of beautiful mountain landscapes to samples of water, and as a consequence the liquid formed harmonious, splendid crystals. So if that water finds harmony only by been subjected to a picture, what do you think happens to all the water molecules from our bodies when we see the real thing? Well, every individual who has ever climbed a mountain can attest to the beauty of the feelings he or she has experienced…

Friday!

Once I said pleasures are important in life. Another little thing I enjoy doing is traveling.
Each and every time I have to travel I have a sort of “Friday feeling” careless of the day of the week. It starts with a sense of serenity, everything takes on a new light and all my cares disappear. Yes, every other thing looses all its importance, not even packing becomes a priority. Somehow I take a few things with me and then I’m gone. Soon a new experience unravels and it feels as if it all takes place in an extended weekend. And as Monday follows the weekend, when I return and I have to get back to may day to day activities I begin to feel that depressing Monday feeling…
I do love my Friday feeling and I can’t wait until I’m off again.

Each and every one of us should have a few pleasures in life. Be that whatever it may, but without pleasure life has no meaning. At least that’s how I go about it.

Last night I was driving alone through town. For no particular reason I felt really good, I felt detached of all possible worries and problems. I might even say I was simply living in that moment. Driving is one of my little pleasures in life. Among other things, it keeps me focused on the present moment.

And that is the essence: to live in the present, not in the past, nor in the future.
In reality I found that sometimes it’s harder than it sounds. Our minds are full of all sorts of issues that constantly push us back and forward through time. In most cases our mind is somewhere else than our body.
Here’s a simple test: try to time yourself and see how long can your mind stay in the present moment before it runs off to some issue in the future or in the past. 30 seconds should be a good start.

Pleasure is not only conditioned by awareness. In fact, as long as pleasure is conditioned by something, we don’t really have pleasure, we only have some sort of temporary feeling of well-being. Cause once the conditioning element is gone, our pleasure is gone. So to be correct, besides awareness, to have pleasure we need to detach ourselves from our material belongings.
Yes, you own a car! But it’s not the end of the world if you scratch it, or even crash it!
It’s you that matters, not your belongings. They come and go, so there’s no reason to worry instead of enjoying yourself. You stand more to loose if you constantly worry about what happens to your things. Not to mention that fueling such thoughts will only make them come true through the law of attraction: what you think you attract in your world!

Most of the harmonious energy I charged up with during my drive was soon lost in an argument caused by some people’s feeling of attachment to their things, in this case to their car.
Now why spoil my fun because you’re worried about your car? It’s just a car!

Detaching myself from that argument I conclude: pleasures are part of life. We have to find them, enjoy them to the fullest and once we have had enough we move on to a more refined pleasure, until we reach the ultimate state when everything is pleasure.
